Keyless Entry System
Keyless entry systems can be the ideal way to protect your rental property without needing to use physical keys. These systems allow guests and tenants to access the building by using a code or their mobile phones. They can be used with intercoms for video and audio communication. This provides people with multiple options to enter a building. Certain keyless entry systems make use of cloud-based technology, which allows them to be controlled remotely. They also offer more advanced features.
A keyless entry system can be installed on any commercial or residential property. The hardware first needs to be installed at every entryway. The system must then be set up and managed through a central console or an app for smartphones. The global keyless entry systems market is expected to expand at a CAGR of 11.8% between 2016 and 2022 according to Technavio. The increase in the market is attributed to the increasing demand for security systems in commercial vehicles.
Many people fear being locked out of their homes and therefore keep spare keys in a safe location. This practice, however, can pose a serious security risk as criminals know where people hide their keys and can track them. Installing a keyless entrance at your home is the most effective option to stop this. This will ensure that you never find yourself locked out.
Transponder Chip
The transponder chip, also known as "chip key" is an electronic micro-chip integrated into the head of your car key, it's also one of the main security layers in your car. The word transponder is derived from the combination of transmitter and responder which is because, when the key is inserted into the ignition and turned on, the antenna ring on your vehicle sends a burst of radio frequency energy to the transponder chip. The chip responds by sending its unique identification code back to the antenna ring. The car's computer then deciphers this information and determines whether it's a valid or not.
The key must be a transponder one to start the car, if it is not, then the vehicle will be immobilized. The chip is protected by a special polycarbonate coating that prevents it from being cloned with mechanical keys that are used in regular use or copied by laser equipment. Beishir Lock and Security carries various transponder keys at less than the price of car dealerships.
Transponder chips started to become popular in the 1980's after GM introduced them into the Corvette.

Immobiliser System
The engine immobiliser (also called the anti-theft system) is a crucial aspect of your vehicle's security. When you insert your key into the ignition switch or Smart Key fob, the transponder chip inside transmits a code to your vehicle's Electronic Control Unit (ECU). The ECU examines whether the code sent from the chip matches the one that is stored in it prior to permitting the engine to begin.
This is the primary method that your car's immobiliser prevents theft. If the code on the chip doesn't match the code in the chip, the ECU stops the flow of current to the fuel pump relay and the injection system, which prevents the engine from beginning. The immobiliser can also disable the starter motor or ignition coil in order to prevent the engine from being started by force.
Unfortunately this system isn't 100% secure. The code to unlock the immobiliser on your car can be hacked by thieves and used to open it. However, the most recent versions of these systems come with a an extended cryptographic sequence which should be harder to deduce.
Since 1998 the immobilisers for cars have become required. However, a majority of vehicles already had basic systems in place. It's also worth noting that although an immobiliser system makes it harder to steal a car, it doesn't hinder thieves from towing away from it or breaking into the car to gain access to your possessions.
Key Replacement
If you lose your remote or key fob it could be a major hassle and cost a lot of money. A locksmith would need to gain entry into the vehicle to decode or run the VIN, then reprogramme the new key to erase any signatures from the computer for all of the keys that have been lost or stolen.
If your car is equipped with a security chip, or transponder, in the key, this will make replacing it more expensive. These chips emit signals to the car that verifies your identity as a driver and allows the doors to open or the engine to start. The average cost of an intelligent key replacement is $160.
ABUS recommends you to register your key code as soon as possible after you purchase. This allows you to purchase spare keys or additional keys in the future.
