If You've Just Purchased Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum ... Now What?
The Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum
The best self-emptying robot vacuum has a base that holds a month's worth of debris and then automatically empty. It makes a thorough home map, allowing you label rooms and create "no go" zones.
It has superior obstacle-avoiding abilities, too, so it will keep out of power cords and rogue socks.
Roomba s9+ iRobot from iRobot
This is a premium model from iRobot and performs well. It can easily maneuver across a range of different surfaces and is very effective at sucking up dirt, dust, and debris. It is also extremely well-constructed, and it looks great too.
The S9 is the latest model from iRobot's premium S Series robot vacuum. It boasts a few extra features that make it stand out from other models. The iRobot App can, for example, use the camera to create maps that assists the robot to navigate and clean efficiently.
It will also return to the location where it left off if its battery is depleted during a cleaning session, so you don't have to waste time re-cleaning the same spots. You can also manually start and stop cleaning sessions with a simple voice command or through the iRobot app. This smart vacuum can also clean in the dark!
Another feature that is great is Carpet Boost, which gives the S9 additional suction power when it comes in contact with carpeting to collect more dirt and debris. It also features an elongated front design that is closer to the corners and walls than the older round designs. This model is not compatible well with high-pile or shag carpeting.
In our tests, we discovered that the iRobot S9+ cleaned thoroughly and efficiently a range of floor surfaces, including hard and medium-pile carpets. It also performed well on vinyl flooring, and laminate flooring. It also did a great job of maneuvering around objects and furniture, although it did struggle with stairs, and can crash into objects like bookcases.
We loved the fact that the S9 automatically returns to its base to empty its dust bin once it's full, which greatly reduces hands-on maintenance needs. The dust bin will last for about 30 loads or a month and a half. It's recommended to replace the filter on a regular basis (as recommended by iRobot). The iRobot S9+ is not extremely loud when it's operating, making it a good choice for families with pets or children.
Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid
Robot vacuum cleaners are made to take care of the work for you and they are able to clean hardwood and carpeted flooring. The best ones can be monitored and controlled via a smartphone app and some have mopping technology for kitchen and bathroom floors. They're a great solution for busy families, and they're becoming more affordable than ever. If you're looking to get the latest technology in your robotic cleaner, then you'll have to shell out a bit more.
best robot vacuum and mopping machine is a great option for those who live in a multi-floored home. Dual motors provide it with impressive cleaning power and the 0.6l dustbin can hold plenty of pet hair. The dustbin is easily removed and empty which is great since you'll need to do this regularly.
It's easy to set it up and I would recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid before running it for the first time. Install the Eufy Home application and follow the directions to connect it to your WiFi network. The app will then help you to create an outline of your home. Rooms can be named or divide large spaces into sub-rooms (good for open plan living) and direct the X8 Hybrid to specific areas that require cleaning at the time of. Other robots also offer similar mapping and scanning functions, but Eufy's app feels more refined and intuitive than the other.
The X8 Hybrid has a great feature: you can turn on the mop or vacuum cleaner via voice thanks to its integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This is a nice addition that makes the robot more hands-free. And it is working well in our test home.
The X8 Hybrid, like many robotic vacuums, has a few issues with flooring that is not clean. It may be unable to see pet hair or small objects, and it is prone to hit objects - like its own charger on the base for charging. It's not as quiet as some other models we've tested, and the whirring sound could be distracting.
Roborock V3S pro
This model doesn't have the same number of features as some of the more expensive ones we tested, however it does cover the basics. It has a huge enough dust bin that can hold a lot of dirt before it needs emptying, and its vacuum and mop system is great for carpets with low pile and hard floors. It's also extremely quiet. We were able to watch TV while it cleaned without feeling like we were constantly bombarded by the sound.
Our testers were impressed by how simple it was to set up and use, and they were amazed by its ability to get all the mess out of their floors. It did a good job getting rid of pet hair, messes and carpeting however, it was more difficult in removing stubborn stains. The app was easy to use and user-friendly. It was able to schedule the vacuum to clean on a regular basis to cut down on manual work. The only drawback is that it does not have any mapping technology or object avoidance, so you aren't able to send it to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundary strips work).
Another model from iRobot's low-cost line which is the V3S Pro has some impressive features for its price. It was the top robot vacuum we tested for mapping and avoiding obstacles. It's also the best budget choice for those looking for a smarter, self-emptying robotic vacuum that can take care of pet messes and hair on hardwood floors or low-pile carpeting. It's also super quiet and has a huge dust bin that holds plenty of debris prior to when it needs emptying, so you don't have to worry about regularly emptying it.
The V3S Pro did not make it onto any of our top picks lists from reliable sources that perform hands-on tests, but it received high marks from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. They appreciated the ease of setup and use, however they did note that its battery life is limited and it wasn't able to avoid some of the most stubborn messes we put it through.
Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is an entry-level robot mop and vacuum that comes with a variety of features at a fair price. You can avail many of the premium features, like smart navigation and mapping without paying top dollar. You can even use voice commands through Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple Siri shortcuts to create custom automations, and then start your cleaning routine at any time while you're away.
Roborock took its time in developing this innovative cleaner. The product is extremely well-built, and it feels like top quality materials were used to create it. Its base is sturdy and solid, and has an integrated charging port for the battery. There's a docking station for the clean-water tank as well as the bins for dirty water on top. Under them, you'll discover an enclosure that houses the vacuum bag that is sealed.
When you connect your device to the app, you'll get an interactive map of your home, which shows the exact location where your robot is situated and the area it's cleaning. You can also create virtual barriers to ensure that your robot isn't in certain areas or to only clean certain kinds of flooring. It's also able to adjust its power settings depending on the type of floor being cleaned, and selecting the most effective method of cleaning.
The Q Revo is unlike many other robot vacuums because it can lift both of its mop heads while vacuuming. This prevents carpet fibres from becoming stained. It's one of the few vacuums that can accomplish this.
The Q Revo's suction power of 5500Pa can get rid of pet hair and dust specks when mopping. The all-rubber brush works well to break up animal and human hair, as it adjusts to uneven surfaces.
Its only downside is that it can take some time to empty and fill the clean and dirty water tanks. Luckily, you can reduce the frequency of this by using the auto-empty feature, which will automatically empty the bin after a few days. You'll still need to monitor the levels of water in the dock manually though, as there isn't an automatic reminder.
