iRobot Roomba 960

The iRobot Roomba 980 is the latest in the line of top-of-the-line robotic vacuum cleaners that are an essential part of any modern household. This model is extremely powerful suction as well as a HEPA filter that will assist anyone suffering from allergies. On top of that it also comes with a powerful battery which can clean for up to two hours, and it automatically returns to its dock when it is full.

It also has an option called smart mapping which uses multiple sensors to help it identify the areas in your home that need attention and make a tidy route around them. We've seen this technology in action and it does a good job of maneuvering around toys that are abandoned on the floor or furniture legs that stick out of the ground. onson robot vacuum has a camera that snaps the Roomba back to the real world when it begins to drift from its actual location.

iRobot has also included an additional set of rollers beneath the Roomba that do not have bristles which makes them more likely to avoid the tangles that previous models. They are also taller and can be placed under beds or couches with low sides. They're designed to make this model more adaptable to different flooring types.

The Roomba 980 differs from other models of high-end quality by its brand new dirt detection feature that makes use of a camera in order to detect embedded dirt. This is a significant improvement over the previous version, which relied on a sensor-driven pseudorandom coverage method to bounce around the room and clean it at minimum three times from various angles.

In our tests of its performance, the Roomba 980 did well on carpets and hard flooring. Its score on low pile carpet was very good and it also scored a high score on mid pile too. It did a fair job of removing pet hair, but it was struggling with extremely thick and long pet fur that was stuck together.

Despite these slight limitations, the Roomba 980 remains one of our top-performing robots, and isn't even nearly as expensive as some of the other top-of-the-line models in this list. It has many of the features you would expect from a top model, but it doesn't have all the fancy apps and smart home integration you'd find in other top contenders.

The iRobot Roomba is easy to set up and start working immediately. After removing the pull tab for the battery and yellow bin insert from the undercarriage, all you have to connect it to its Home Base docking station or a wall socket, press its big "Clean" button, and let it go to work. It will automatically return to the dock when it has run out of battery or is full of debris. There are also indicator lights on top that indicate the bin is empty, when it needs to recharge, or if it loses Wi-Fi.
