Twilight Princess It's Not As Hard As You Think Twilight Princess Game Review

The most dark and serious of the Nintendo 3D Zelda games, Twilight Princess pushes the limits of graphic presentation to its final limits on the Wii's hardware. It's darker and more threatening than The Wind Waker. There aren't any bug-eyed pigs, nor effeminate Pirates.

Link is drawn to a parallel dimension referred to as Twilight Realm where he takes the form of Hylian wolf and Hylian Wolf and Hylian wolf Hylian while being guided by Midna.

Gameplay

Twilight Princess is the thirteenth installment in The Legend of Zelda series. It was released for Nintendo GameCube and Wii systems in the year 2006. Critics praised the game and gave it perfect scores in several publications, including 1UP CVG EGM and GamesRadar. Many consider it to be the best game in the franchise and the most viewed Zelda game on the PAL market.

Twilight Princess features a stylized, naturalistic graphics style similar to Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time, but with a more sophisticated graphical engine. It's the first game in the series to feature a fully directional movement control scheme, rather than a fixed viewpoint like previous games. This modification was made in order to work with the Wii console's pointing-based interface. The GameCube version of the game features a section at the back that has mirror-image maps for players who prefer a fixed view.

Link transforms into a wolf when he enters the Twilight Realm. He also encounters Midna, an enigmatic creature. She reveals to Link that the kingdom of Hyrule is now under the control of a group shadow beasts, led by the evil sorcerer Zant. She further explains that she is the true ruler of Twili but was taken over and cursed to her current form by Zant.

A short cutscene shows soldiers being killed by shadow beasts after Link and Midna reach Hyrule Castle. Then, Link and Midna escape from the castle via an escape tunnel and enter the Twilight Realm.

Link can move more freely in the Twilight Realm by using his Wolf form. He can also use senses to navigate the world. He can sense the ghosts of soldiers and animals in the distance. He can also pick grass from certain patches and then whistle with it to summon an animal, like an Hawk or Epona. Alternately, Link can howl near these patches to summon the same animal.

Twilight Princess is no different from previous Zelda titles in the sense that music plays an important role. Link can use instruments like the harp or flute to draw attention to and summon animals. He can also command the wolf's form by speaking. He can also use his compass to guide him to help him navigate through the world.

Characters

The Legend of Zelda series is full of vibrant characters that leave a lasting impression on players. These quirky and unique characters such as hands emerging from the toilets to pirates sailing across vast oceans are the heart of the game. Twilight Princess continues the tradition of previous games by introducing a range of memorable characters.

Through the course of the story, Link meets new NPCs who are not just fascinating, but also credible. It's a major step in the right direction that many of these NPCs actually play a role in the story instead of simply being there as victims. NPCs such as Rusl who explains how the forest has become more dangerous and kidnaps children, or Ordon villagers who sneak around as wolves while the children are being taken from them each has a distinct personality that feel authentic.

Other notable characters are Iza who manages the Boat Rental Cabin in Lanayru Province and Iza's rapid ride, Louise Telma’s cat, who assists Wolf Link find a secret way into the castle via her bar and sewer system, as well as Faron his spirit helps guide Link to the Forest Temple in Eldin Province. The duo defeats the Fused Shadow possessed by Diababa and gains the first Tear of Light.

Midna is the princess of the Twilight Realm and one of the most interesting characters in the game. She possesses a fragment of the Triforce of Wisdom and can change between her human and her wolf-like impish form. She befriends Link and shares with him her experiences in the twilight, and how she defeated Zant the King of Twilight.

Zant, who possesses the other part of the Triforce of Wisdom, is a wicked sorcerer, the ruler of the Twilight Realm. The goddesses relegated him to the Twilight Realm for enslaving their people and enslaving their land. Midna removes Zant's power, permitting him to transform into his human form if needed.

The game also features an upgraded horse, called Epona that can be ridden in Hylian and wolf forms. Link can whistle near grass patches to summon the animal (similar to Majora's Mask). Twilight Princess is the first game in the series where players can identify their horse.

Theme

Music is among the most important elements of any Zelda game, and it can make a world feel vast, epic, and engrossing. Twilight Princess' soundtrack is criticised for being inconsistent and sporadic and doesn't convey certain emotional moments. Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and other games have captivating music that bloom at the perfect moment to create a sense of grandness and eerie.

Twilight Princess was composed by Asuka Ohta and Toru Minegishi. Koji Kondo, the composer of the series for the first time since Wind Waker was responsible for overseeing the composers. The soundtrack to Twilight Princess is a radical deviation from the standard approach to the series, and features a a minimalistic approach to music and arrangements. The majority of dungeon and field music starts with a single instrumental creating a mystical and eerie atmosphere for the player. For instance, the haunting music in Midna's Lament utilizes an ordinary piano to create a soaring sense of sorrow for the player.

The most popular examples are dungeon themes, with a dull atmosphere. This is evident in the Twilight Realm theme, which has a sonic landscape that would be at home on the soundtrack to a David Lynch film. The lack of melody and the conventional arrangement of this track enhances its ominous, unsettling nature. Drones and bizarre patterns intertwine to create a dark and eerie sound.

Link's hometown song, "Faron Woods," is a more uplifting and joyful song. This song uses a variety gentle sounds and strings to create a tranquil and secure experience for the player. The song has a subtle nod to the most well-known scene in the franchise because it has a melody that is reminiscent of the famous melody that plays at the Ocarina of Time's start.

There are also some dynamic songs in Twilight Princess that change depending on the location of the player, what they are doing, and what's happening. For example, the Hyrule Castle Town theme has different versions for each section of the town and Central Square being the most popular. Central Square having a more lively and full version of the tune. These variations add a nice addition to the world of Hyrule that adds a sense of depth and immersion.
