What's The Most Common Item Upgrades Debate Could Be As Black Or White As You May Think Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a frequent and crucial method to enhance the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a fantastic source of damage or more AD or even more attachments.

Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to the more modernized Common or Magic gear due to their high demands.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be used on weapon and armor items. They improve the stats of the item they're connected to. Upgrades to armor are available in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Alternatively, they can also be rescued from items with upgrade components within them by using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.

The amount of damage that an armored item or weapon can absorb depends on the degree of upgrades. The ability to absorb damage of an armor piece will increase when it is upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it must be heavier.

There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have distinct effects. For instance, some upgrades will grant the armor a certain number of additional health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The name of the armor upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade an item can receive, as shown below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, as identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges to use, and are identified by the "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are continuously updated or never expire based on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest option to upgrade your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Titanium is more expensive however, it is available from smelters located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant improvements in stats and are a worthwhile investment, particularly for one-handed weapons.

Upgrading a piece of armor to the highest upgrade level will greatly boost its defense however, the user must be aware that putting on weight will drastically reduce its speed and agility. Therefore, it is not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces that are higher than +9 since the defensive boost gained is typically not worth the extra weight and power cost of the improvements required.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Some weapons have special upgrades that enhance their inherent characteristics. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases the speed of projectiles to cause more damage).

Most upgrades for weapons require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade. These can be obtained by completing side quests or by killing a certain number of bosses and monsters.

To upgrade an equipment set, weapon piece, or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee that is a certain amount of bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars you will need to complete the upgrade. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be lower.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a certain amount of Bars. You could continue doing this until you reached the maximum upgrade level for your equipment or weapon, following which upgrades would reset.

You can still do this however, the process is high on RNG and low on agency. You're better off buying gear that has low upgrade levels, but high base scores and stat distributions. They will also have a chance at gaining you the highest tier bonuses and blessings.

The majority of players will make the most of upgrades to weapons they use most frequently to make sure they are able to level up faster. Players should also upgrade the weapons their teammates use to boost their strength. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to enhance its effectiveness when accompanied by experts in biotics like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to improve the stats of a character or to provide additional effects on weapons and armor. They can be created through the process of jewelry crafting, where you combine a gemstone and a number of specific ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the tier of the gemstone has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and sometimes by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The Jeweler can improve the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. Based on the tier of the jewel, it will provide a different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.

All kinds of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a high enough level to qualify for them. Unlike other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped out by a different jewel of the same type without damaging the original one. However you can only swap out one jewel in a piece of equipment once.

Utilizing more jewels in the movement will make it feel smoother and is typically performed for aesthetic reasons. Jewels also enhance performance and create a surface harder than metal so that repeated friction from pivots do not cause damage to them.

A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the look of your weapons and shields. They offer a small benefit and can be swapped out at any time but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also Scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as traits or aegis can't be exchanged, and can only be found through an upgrade extractor or salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage.

Trinkets

Trinkets can be used to provide your hero with a variety of small, but valuable, advantages. They can be obtained in the beginning areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and through performing road interactions. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player will unlock is the cloak. It provides a tiny, but useful bonus in movement speed and the ability to escape. After that, they'll be able to purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar fashion to how the player acquires weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has an upgrade slot that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be used in any type of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded, and only works with certain types of trinkets.

These trinkets can also grant buffs and skills that are active whenever the hero is not in combat. This allows the hero to become more efficient even when not in combat. It can also compensate for the absence of strong slots in the team or talent tree which would normally be filled by the hero's best stats.

As a rule trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace anytime soon. Next, any items that have desirable statistics aren't as important as the iLevel of the item that is to be upgraded. This is especially true if you're looking to upgrade several stats on an item. It's best to upgrade just one crucial stat than two less important ones.

Check This Out will often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red one at the beginning of the game. Top and mid players however, will choose a green or a pink ward, depending on the matchup. These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's ability to control his map.

Apart from item upgrade mentioned above, players can also find other trinkets throughout the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story. For example, completing the main quest for a chapter or beating a boss. They can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
