The laser navigation system is the primary selling point of this machine. The X8 uses laser mapping technology that is more accurate than previous Eufy devices. It takes less time to create an accurate map of your home. It can also store multiple maps. This is great for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is still a good vacuum for floors that are not clean and can sling debris over its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with relative ease. The X8's tyres, despite their circular shape, are efficient in grabbing corners and edges. It's not a fantastic cat litter picker, though, with our tests showing it is able to remove around 90 percent of the fur from hard floors.

There's a basic mopping option that utilizes the same water tank as the vacuuming one. This is ideal for spills that aren't serious, but you cannot regulate the amount of water that it uses. That said, it does an excellent job of removing pet hair, with a better pickup rate than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, effective appliances. It is a stunning design, a great navigation system and a powerful cleaning power. It has a few oddities in its operation that keep it from being ranked as the best smart robot vacuum.

Similar to the latest models of iRobot and models, the RX2 comes with dual-sensor mapping which uses a LIDAR sensor to map out an area and a pair of 3D scanning cameras that can detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real-time. Once the room is mapped and assigned, you can assign virtual no go areas and favorite sections to the robot. You can also manually change cleaning modes, start an automatic clean or see live feeds of the onboard cameras from the main screen.

The sensors of the RX2 work well in registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping capabilities are excellent, taking away surface debris from medium pile carpeting and also removing dust that has been deposited on floors. It's not the fastest robotics available. It's not the greatest climber, and it has problems with transition strips made of metal.

This budget robovac looks just like a typical robot, but it's upgraded in terms of performance and features. We really like the 980 due to its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneity localisation and mapping (or vSLAM), to memorise the floor plan of your home. It will then use the information to create an efficient and consistent cleaning path for every cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a better robot vacuum than most high-end robots.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that capture dirt from floors and carpets, as well as a spinning brush to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. The floor tracking sensor helps it navigate through furniture, along edges and on steps. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling.
