Why We Love Item Upgrading (And You Should Too!)
World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to increase the gear score of an item up to 700 and add a final perk. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory and heading to the kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded for their unique stats (like perfect broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons do not vary greatly post upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to increase their numeric stats like crit chance, attack damage, PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons have a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. Additionally there are many weapons with a set bonus which is activated when three or more of the same weapon is present on a single unit. In some instances, this bonus can add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon upgrades by itself.
The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity as well as its current level. For example, an +2 weapon requires two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue increase until it requires a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons also alter the stats of the base. While this is generally beneficial but it can also have negative consequences too. Upgrades can render items impossible to use, unless you are extremely lucky.
Armor items can also be upgraded to boost their stats. This can increase the base defense of a helm or chest as well as belts and gloves. These can boost their strength and agility. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it may reduce its value.
The upgrade template for a weapon will display the new stats that it will get when upgraded and their respective values. This means that a change from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in a weapon gaining an attack damage of 3. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will strike 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.
A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows in the item menu. This will reroll an item and change its statistics, but it will not reset the weapon's levels, or bind it to account status.
Armor
A few armor upgrades can make a huge difference to your survival. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE boosts to poison or curse, fire, and magic resistance, which makes the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. Generally speaking, the more defense your character has, the more value you get from each point of health you have and it's crucial to upgrade your armor as much as you can.
To improve your armor, head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four in total and each one requires you to complete a special side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've done the main side quest and have completed the fountain in question you'll be able to talk to any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor.
The amount of materials needed to upgrade each piece of armor will differ. In general, you'll need at anything from three to five Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. For instance, the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep up with a good-sized group of enemies in most cold environments, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, giving the protection needed to survive the full-on assault with a handful of friends.
Note that armor can't be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll want to concentrate on upgrading it for physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power when you're a Mage. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for armor you'll wear at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you wear for the final boss battle, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
You can also gain perks for your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. In general, you should keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer However, it is useful to have a few upgrades to your chest armor and helmets that allow you to stealth around certain monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by a player, provide a temporary effect. There are five kinds of potions, each having specific effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded, enhancing their level of effect. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by adding redstone dust and glowstone dust.
Upgrades to your potion require a specific amount of XP. This can be obtained by making them on a crafting table, or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. The price of upgrades is dependent on the kind of potion you wish to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level and rarity.
To upgrade a potions simply right-click on it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open a GUI which allows you to choose the potion that you would like to upgrade and the amount of experience they will offer when upgraded. Upgrading potions can be done in batches of up to five at a time and the XP that they generate will be added to your current XP level.
Once a poton is upgraded and stored, it will not degrade unless you make use of it again or break the bottle in which it is stored. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will allow you to rename it.
Version 1.7.2 brought a few changes to the way potions are used. Splash potions for instance are now available with a time of 0:08 instead of the 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display of the item. The potion table is now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players in Survival and Bedrock. In contrast to the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions cannot be used in cauldrons. Additionally, using a potentio on a full cauldron, it drains the contents and replenishes the bottle.
Finally, there are lingering potions, which are brewed with splash and dragon breath potions. In the same way, a lingering potion' effect is extended by adding redstone to it. The potion table is now laid out more in line with the Java Edition, and new potions were added, such as the potion of leaping and the decomposition potion, as well as turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket could be an ornamental item that is small, cheap or piece jewelry. It could also refer to an object or ornament that serves a purpose, but isn't essential such as a trinket. In some cultures, trinkets are used to signify affection or friendship, specifically between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be made by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor.
upgrade item unlike other items that can be upgraded can be exchanged at any time without losing statistics.
The upgrade vendors are found in major cities and the capital of each zone, as well as in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be bought with tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.
The upgrade of a trinket can be an economical alternative to buying new ones. One can upgrade a trinket with as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base ilvl as previous one, and will have an additional 1% upgrade bonus.
Trinkets can be upgraded when they are not needed which allows a player to increase their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players and are an attractive alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most essential items first. This means that the top-in slot items for each class are first upgraded then their secondary gear and other pieces of equipment that won't replace anytime soon (such as an earring or a cloak). It is also important to consider your class's preferred stats when choosing which items to upgrade. For example when Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank, they should be focusing on upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and chest.
After they've become unusable, trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket comes with an additional 1percent bonus. However, a re-upgrade can ruin the previous trinket until it is salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an additional salvage tool of higher quality. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still less expensive than buying the new one.
