"The Ultimate Cheat Sheet" On Item Upgrades
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
The upgrade of your items is a crucial part of equipping your character. Upgrades boost the base damage and enchantments of items.

They also provide bonuses and enhancements. The Blacksmith can sell them to you.
The upgrade button is located on any item. Each recycled item adds a level to the gauge for upgrading.
Weapons
When a weapon is upgraded, it receives a base damage bonus and a scaling factor which affects other stats. Certain upgrade components come with aesthetic effects while others give additional attributes. These upgrades can be inserted into armor, weapons, trinkets and gathering tools, and they generally require the equipment to have an upgrade slot that is available and meet certain requirements. If a weapon piece is equipped with an upgrade component it, it can be upgraded but the previous upgrade will be destroyed (except for legendary equipment and upgrades). Upgrade components can be retrieved using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool, or by using a high-end salvage tool on the item the item.
In addition to the normal upgrades, a weapon may be upgraded with the Calibration Attribute which improves certain stats, such as Weakspot Damage or Crit Rate. This is accomplished through the Gear Workbench interaction menu. Based on the tier of the weapon it can be done up to four times.
After the weapon has reached its maximum upgrade and is then rebuilt to add additional bonuses and effects or improve specific stats. These upgrades can be applied simultaneously and their effects will vary depending on how rare the weapon is.
Two Blacksmiths are able to perform these upgrades in the game: Blacksmith Iji on the Road to the Manor Site of Grace and Smithing Master Hewg at the Church of Elleh hub. Both require different upgrade materials: Smithing Stones for standard weapons and Somber Smithing Stones for modifying the damage that a weapon inflicts.
In general, it is recommended to increase the damage of your weapon first, then armour defense, and then the other secondary stats as required by your build. It is not uncommon to see melee Druids upgrade their weapon prior to upgrading other gear. This helps maximize DPS. This is especially applicable to enchantments, which are extremely efficient in increasing the damage of a weapon and other stats.
Armor
Item Upgrades let players enhance the performance of certain weapons, armors trinkets and gathering tools. These upgrades may also provide additional effects, such as more damage or a cosmetic enhancement. Item Upgrades can be obtained through crafting, buying from NPC vendors, through loot drops or as rewards for quests.
The quality of armor can be upgraded by visiting the Armorer NPC, and spending the appropriate currency. Most of the time an item of armor will be upgraded to the next level after an upgrade is applied. Most types of armor are upgradeable, however some items (such as the starter armour found in Great Sky Island) cannot.
Most armor upgrades provide only a slight increase in the item's defense or strength. Some upgrade components, however can lead to significant increases in defense or strength. This is particularly the case when upgrading epic items.
Certain upgrades offer specific abilities that can be activated when wearing armor. These abilities can be beneficial in combat, such as granting a buff to attack speed or blocking. Certain upgrades also offer passive effects, like reducing the amount of damage that is taken while wearing armor or granting the ability to deflect attacks.
Upgrades to armor could require multiple attempts, depending on the type of armor. For instance, if a player wanted to upgrade an existing Steelclash armor to Dragonscale the first attempt will result in a brand new piece of Dragonscale with a base defense between 59-67.
Home Page would result in a new Dragonscale armor with an initial defense of 67-77 and so on.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild lets players to upgrade their armor sets to level 4. To do this players must visit the four Great Fairy Fountains found in the game. Each of these locations houses a powerful fairy who can upgrade a piece of armor for the player.
Despite popular belief it isn't a necessity in The Division 2. The reality is that certain armors provide significant increases in poison or curse, fire or magical damage reduction, making them extremely useful for specific builds. Additionally, there are ways to increase the stats of armor beyond the use of upgradeable armor, such as the engineer trait to increase armor penetration, or the challenger trait that reduces the weight of the entire armor.
Potion
A potion can be upgraded by placing it in a brewing stand to unlock new effects. The upgrade unlocks another tier of potion effects, and can be repeated for more potencies.
The potions also get the ability to select a custom color that can be chosen by the player via the /give. The color will affect the effect clouds' area-of-effect as well as the arrows generated. In Bedrock Edition, the custom potion color also applies to the potions' particle effects.
The water bottle, the mundane potions that are thick and awkward now have a new texture of brewing. In the Creative Inventory, potion healing and potion weakness are now available. There are lingering potions available that can be brewed with splash potions or dragon breath and a thick pot that has the status effect of Mining Fatigue (duration 4 hours). Issues relating to this update are maintained on the Bug Tracker.
Trinket
A trinket could be a small, inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It can be a ring or necklace. Or, it could be a tiny banner to mark the yard of a boat. It could also refer to a gold-plated trinket on the mast of a ship.
This bizarre trinket is believed to be influencing the inhabitants of this maze by making them more common. At present, this trinket makes all types of mimic Xx more common and gives every floor an X% chance of having an ebony-colored mimic. This trinket costs a moderate amount of energy to upgrade.
The enchanted Scepter's magic appears to influence the dungeon by increasing the probability of generating grass and water. At its current level, this trinket can make X% of the floors become filled with water or grass but doesn't affect enchantments or symbols, cursed weapons or armor, or items generated to help solve hazard rooms.
Although it appears to be an ordinary eye of a newt, this mysterious object appears to be affecting your vision in ways that go beyond merely reducing your field of view. This trinket, at its current level, boosts the health benefits of drinking potions of healing and wells of life by X%, and also gives mind sight to enemies within the Y tile. This is not a stacking feature with Heightened Senses.
Skull Cavern is where you will find Trinkets after completing the Mastery Cave. You will find them when you defeat Monsters, and in chests and crates. They are not in the Mines or Volcano Dungeon.
When you have a trinket that requires upgrading, place it in the Anvil to do so. This will have an effect on the trinket which is random and will either increase or strengthen its effects. You can reforge the Trinket as many times as you'd like however it will always have the same effect.
You can also upgrade your Trinkets by placing them in a Magical Catalyst located at the Alchemy Station. It will cost you 6 energy and increase the trinket's power by only a tiny amount.
