One feature that makes the G30 Edge stand out is its ability to map your home with a digital map within the app. It can remember which spaces it has cleaned previously and prevents it from returning to those areas which is a major problem with more basic robots that rely on the use of magnetic tape to mark off zones that aren't allowed.

This design offers several advantages, including better corner cleaning and a larger container of dust than most other models. The D-shape also enables the robot to get under furniture better than robots with a circular design.

When first starting a cleaning process, the D-Shape will stop for a moment to use spinning infrared lasers to scan and evaluate the area. The dual multi-surface brushes are flexible and adapt to different flooring types. They also resist tangling pet hair.

The i3+ EVO has a weaker obstacle avoidance capability than the other robots that we test. It frequently hit objects such as handbags, pet toys and shoes before retracing its path. It also had issues dealing with salt from kosher, coarse which it blew up and around rather than picking up.

The i3+ EVO is packed with features that make it well worth the extra money over other Roomba models. These include the ability to self-empty the bin and more advanced control through an app. It is possible to schedule cleanings, set custom routines, and create zones that do not want the robot enter. The smart scheduling system will suggest additional cleaning during allergy season and based on the routine you follow. Its navigation system isn't reliable and sometimes vacuums in erratic patterns like diagonals or zigzags instead of parallel to walls.

It comes with a large trash bin for messes to be collected before they're filled. The only downside is that it can take up to 166 minutes to finish its job, but that's still better than other robots we've evaluated.

Cliff Detect and an edge-sweeping brush ensure that it can get into hard-to-reach corners, while Dirt Detect sensors alert it to areas that are heavily soiled. The battery lasts for about 60 minutes, and it comes with a self-emptying dustbin. The more expensive iRobot j7 is more advanced and better on all surfaces. It is also more robust, has a larger dustbin, charges quicker, and can navigate obstacles such as electrical cords better.
