Upgrades to gear increase its stats base and often increases its other features. The value of these upgrades is determined by their tiers, requirements and the amount of random enhancements applied.

Reroll Tokens

Reroll tokens are a way to reroll an acquired item like armor, weapon or ring. The item is replaced by another of the same kind and comes with different bonuses. The survivors can get tokens to reroll in many ways, including through the Mistery Box and rare drops from skulled creatures. Upgrading an item can increase its Mark Level and/or Rarity. Some upgrade components also have additional modifiers that can increase the stats of the item.

For example, the helm upgrade "Foundation of the Sun" boosts the base defense, and gives an additional 20% chance to block. Additionally the dps enhancement "Wildfire" boosts weapon damage.


Upgrades can be beneficial for certain items, but they are not because they boost stats. They are more valuable to players when they get a perfect roll. For instance, a perfectly rolled 200/6 504 armor set piece is highly sought-after in the melee PvP community and could be worth 20-50 times the value of the unupp'd version.

The game will highlight the requirements once you choose the upgrade component that goes into the item. These include the item type (either Weapon or Armor) and the tier of that item and the upgrade Token required, as well as the amount of progress required to complete the upgrade.
