11 Methods To Totally Defeat Your Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items can be used to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it may increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and increase other stats.
Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
When an item is upgraded, its stats improve in value. The value is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high dependent on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to the number of perks that have to be altered to upgrade an item.
It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at a lower level. The average item level can be found in the character sheet.
Utilizing the level of an item will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when deciding to purchase or sell. It's an excellent indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it is capable of causing. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor can be done by using the level of the item.
The item level can be checked by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full item description, including its level. It can also be found by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are a variety of theories on how the level of an item is calculated. One theory states that the level of an item is calculated by formulas that determine the value of an item's stats actually are. It takes into consideration that different perks are valued differently, and that gems found in sockets boost the value of the item. This process can result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is typically close to Blizzard's actual item level.
However, this isn't the only factor that can affect an item's ilvl as the level of the area the item was dropped in could alter the value of its stats, such as by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.
Item Stats
The stats of an item can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game makes use of them in various ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to motivate them to try out other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat mods, which are themselves enhanced by the player's level.
Upgrades to an item may boost its stats. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For instance, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while an item with the rare tiers will be upgraded several times, at higher costs.
Another method of altering the stats on an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The affixes can provide the item extra damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding an additional name to the item.
All affixes are currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This will cost a certain amount in gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, as with other rerolling methods.
In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However each item will have at least one stat in that range unless they are an item that is unique, or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.
This is another aspect that could be altered by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or deciding which stats to enhance. But, like base equipment, this would have to be performed on a per-item level, and the item compare interface would not display all the possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player boosts the probability of obtaining items, the properties that are generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players a possibility to obtain better equipment earlier in the game and is therefore more useful in the initial game run than later ones because most players value higher weapon scaling and defenses over raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chances that increase with each new level of item. They can also be increased with the use of anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be improved by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be crafted to increase the damage of any skill that is able to deal damage by five percent.
item upgrading can be purchased in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades work. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their chances of success or even prevent themselves from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.
When you upgrade an item the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The probability of success can only be increased so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%.
The success of an
item upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. All items have a success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.
Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects may be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
