10 Quick Tips About Upvc Replacement Door Handles
UPVC Replacement Door Handles
As time passes, the handles on your doors will wear out and will require replacement. It is important to be able to match the dimensions of the handles you have previously replaced when replacing them.
The top screw's location as well as the lever and keyhole dimensions are the three measurements that you need to verify. Use the size guide to help you.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever door handle is a modern handle that can be put in on doors that are new or replacement. This style of handle is available in many styles and finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The door handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of robust materials and are ideal for multi point lock doors which require a robust design. The handles are inline, and they utilize the same screws and spindle to fix them. They can be easily mounted on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be adjusted and angled to fit the needs of all users. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200 000 cycles. This ensures that the finish is of high quality and performance will last for a long time.
upvc door handle sprung lever can also be cut to fit a wider range of locks. This is especially useful for narrower door frames where the cylinder is further back. A lever that is shorter can be used for doors that have a latch that can be opened by the thumb inside.
Lever Pad
The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles used on the majority of doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle, or two spindles, either inline or offset. They are typically used on UPVC doors with double glazing and come in a variety of finishes & variations.
The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200,000 cycles and are available in several finishes, including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with the best performance and durability to serve the purpose it was designed for.
All UPVC handle lever pads come with a spindle, screws and can be mounted on the uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm permit a larger handle, which is typically an advantage when replacing an old or damaged multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers come with a spring, which solves the problem of door handles that move out of the horizontal position when not being used.
It is important to match the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when choosing a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is also known as the handle centre or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect to match the correct handles.
After you have determined the correct PZ size and the correct PZ size, you must make sure that the lever and push pads are shaped to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. They are typically round or square with an internal lever and an external push pad.
Most of the UPVC lever pads that we offer are sprung, which means that they return to their horizontal position when they are not in use, rather than hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This prevents drafts and cold air from entering a property. You will also find that the majority of the UPVC handle lever pad style handles are swivel, allowing you to install them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. Cylinder locks are operated by a key which unlocks the cylinder case. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned to those inside the lock, allowing them to turn the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins, with internal and external doors generally requiring different levels of security.
Choosing the right cylinder is crucial; it depends on how your doors and handle are used. External doors, for example, should be fitted with cylinders that are more secure and internal doors can be secured with a standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders are available with extra features that increase security, for instance anti-drill or anti-bump properties.
A euro cylinder must be properly measured to ensure that it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the other end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this with the lock in place, but in the event that this is not possible, you may take it off to measure. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks such as snapping locks, so it is essential that it's not too long.
Most newer cylinders have been designed with bump and anti-drill features built into their design. They are designed to decrease attack chances by forcing the cylinders to turn in a new direction. This helps deflect the attack and ensure your doors are secure.
Certain cylinders are made to resist snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. This is a much faster and simpler method to gain access than the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which can make it difficult to prove insurance claims.
Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is situated within the base plate of the door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to help return the multipoint lock handles to their normal position after using. These handles used to have no spring and would drop when the locking mechanism was disconnected. This simple feature is among the best methods to correct this, and is a great way to prevent your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in either closed or open position, as they aren't always easy to manually close by hand.
These spring cassettes have been specifically designed to be used with multipoint locks sprung, they will not fit multipoint handles that are not sprung and you will require a bespoke hole cut into the backplate to allow them to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes within the door handle backplate of various brands of uPVC doors. They are supplied in one unit. They feature a square cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.
These spring cassettes are a great value solution to the problem of door handles that are sagging. They are easy to fit and will extend the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
