This refrigerator is packed with features, from an in-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a sophisticated water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. This refrigerator is costly and I was expecting better.

This refrigerator is a good option, despite the slight blip. It boasts a spacious freezer compartment, which is quite uncommon in counter-depth French door refrigerators. Additionally, it holds a fair amount of frozen food when compared to similar models.

The fridge is equipped with 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is the standard for a French-door fridge at this price. It also has an adequate-sized icemaker in the left door, though it isn't the largest I've seen.

You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to create a the perfect storage solution. The GE PYE22PYNFS's design for the interior is stylish, too. The LED lighting adds an attractive touch. The in-door storage bins have a third shelf which can be folded down to store large items. The drawers come with temperature controls that let you set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, but I found their plastic textured coatings a bit difficult on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with the complete set of features you'd expect from a fridge in this price range that includes Wi-Fi as well as app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app, available for iOS and Android devices, lets you control your refrigerator from anywhere in the world, and has numerous options for customization. It also alerts you when a door is left open, when the fridge or freezer needs defrosting and when it's time to change the filter.

It is nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS came with Precise Fill, an option available in a handful of other GE fridges that allows you to set the number of cups of water you'd like to pour out simultaneously. It also has a countdown feature on the fridge's display to show how much water you have left, but it's not as useful as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Created to appear like a seamless piece of your kitchen, Bosch's French-door refrigerator is a standout. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also has a veggie compartment that keeps vegetables and fruits fresher for longer, and two compressors for preserving food items. The Ice maker we tested is one of the most efficient and makes the shape of a pyramid using only water. This refrigerator is a great option for a single family or kitchenettes looking for an integrated look and top of the line food preservation.

This refrigerator was the highest-rated refrigerator in our Refrigerators test, for various reasons. Its freezer temperatures remained constant at just above 0°F and never changed more than a tiny fraction - this is essential to avoid freezing burn. The refrigerator section of the refrigerator also did well. It reached the initial temperature set within an hour and maintained that temperature throughout our testing.

Bosch is known for its top-of-the-line appliances and appliances, so it's not a surprise that this counter depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance that has the option to connect to your home Wi-Fi and Bosch's Home Connect platform. This app allows you to monitor and manage your fridge remotely using your smartphone or tablet. The fridge is expensive, however it has excellent features and functionality for the cost.

It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge has a standard French-door layout with gallon-sized door bins on each door, two rows of shelves that capture spills and a set crisper drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded down to make space for taller items. There's also a full-width drawer for products from the deli and an inside water dispenser.

One of the nice things about this refrigerator is that the ice maker is in the freezer, making it simple to move ice into the fridge to be used when it is needed. The freezer also features innovative design features like sliding drawers that help you organize your items. It also has a large container to store frozen food items, and a separate container for ice.

Another cool feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can manage the temperature, lighting, and more of your fridge from your smartphone. It's a simple way to monitor your refrigerator and manage it, particularly when you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat however it doesn't improve the performance of the fridge. The refrigerator took longer to chill food and defrost it than some others we test. This is likely due to its larger capacity.

Another issue with the door of this refrigerator. The handles that are sunken allow smaller people to open them from the bottom. However, taller people still have a difficult time closing them without slamming them. It would have been better if these had front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent option for those looking to combine the look and feel of a French-door refrigerator with an efficient design. Its capacity is higher than average for a counter-depth model, and it cools evenly and has a good layout. It's also a little cheaper than the best counter-depth refrigerator that has an ice maker, which helps make it a popular choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator


This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a great choice when you're looking for a French door fridge that doesn't break the budget. It's a basic refrigerator that might not be as appealing as its rivals, but it still has enough features to make it a suitable option. Its main characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer which helps keep food items like veggies and meat fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water dispenser and a decent ice machine that works fast.

The "Chill Drawer", which sits over the two crisper bins, is a excellent feature. This drawer lets you redirect some of the refrigerator's cooling power directly to this area, which means you can store foods that require extra attention. This feature can be adjusted by using a slider located outside the drawer. You can also alter the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've found that the generic settings are more effective than the specific ones.

In my tests, the temperatures of the refrigerator stayed fairly consistent across different areas of the refrigerator. Temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge didn't stray very far from 38 degrees, and the middle of the fridge was within one degree of 36. This is a solid performance, but it doesn't quite make it to the top of our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also connect this fridge to an intelligent thermometer to get more precise measurements of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's outside is made of stainless steel with a grey-bodied body with a "smudge-proof" finish. It blocks streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've tried.
