The first wristwatch in history is missing. Seriously. Breguet number 2639 hasn't been seen since a direct descendent of the Queen of Naples sent it for service back in 1855. I saw the original entry in the Breguet archives while visiting the Breguet museum in Paris, and it's worth a read here and Pet Tech Security a visit if you are ever in town. We can only assume the Hayek family is in pursuit of this watch.I think either element in its own format (a green Fifty-Eight in steel, or a gold Fifty-Eight with a blue or black colorway) could be excellent. The Breathe app has also gotten an update – it's now called the Mindfulness app, and in addition to the AI Powered Parenting standard Breathe exercise you also get an exercise called Reflect, which invites you to contemplate a thought or memory intended to produce a feeling of serenity.There were too many controversies to recap in the auction world last year, but the biggest one was the record-setting tropical Omega Speedmaster sold by Phillips that turned out to be a Frankenwatch. Since then, the Speedmaster market has been on life support. One of the biggest watch auction controversies ever has a way of chilling the market. If an auction house does take the risk of placing a Speedmaster in a sale, they've often underperformed or failed to sell.The Kodo is made at the atelier Ginza by a special team of watchmakers and there is an engraving on the caseback denoting that. This new Kodo is being released as a limited edition of 20 and will be available in December 2024.
Next up, something non-military but just as historically important. It was Tudor – not Rolex – that supplied watches to members of the British North Greenland Expedition (1952-1954). In total, 26 were made, including this one belonging to Jock P. Masterton (J.P.M), the expedition's doctor. Its current owner bought it on eBay a few years ago after "no one wanted it" –  which is nuts!And, just yesterday, on April 26, Baume & Mercier announced the upcoming June 1 appointment of its own new global CEO, none other than Mr. Geoffroy Lefebvre, who will Climate Adaptation be moving over from his post at Jaeger-LeCoultre. Lefebvre joined Richemont in 2011 as Organization Director, after spending 10 years as a consultant at McKinsey & Company.Back to these new 40mm automatic references that have Paul Smith stamped on the dial at six o'clock. The look is clean and minimal as it should be. These designs never stray too far from the original product.
