Okay, let's just keep climbing the hierarchy of manually wound Daytonas here. This is, just like the previous watch, a rare reference 6264. But this isn't a Paul Newman, nor is it a regular dial here. Notice it says "Base 15 pulsations" at 10 o'clock? Yup, this is a pulsation dial Daytona, or "Doctor's Daytona."This week, we have Nora, Jack, and Danny on the mics to chat about character watches, the cultural impact of AP's Black Panther, how Space Jam watches seem to hunt
Metaverse Autobahn in packs, the latest from Grand Seiko, and the real name of the bird on the Corn Flakes box. We're trying something new and we hope you love it. Dating to the early 2000s, the Avenger collection has been scaled down and simplifed to make for a sleek update. The collection includes the Automatic 42, GMT 44, and the B01 Chronograph 44 – the chronograph uses Breitling's manufacture caliber 01.Not one part of the case has gone untouched, with a variety of techniques, including champlevé to evoke Haussmann-type façades, a movement motif recalling the metal structures of the Eiffel Tower. The watch measures 41.5x38 mm in diameter and 12.7 mm thick.
It is no secret that Tudor had a huge year at Baselworld last year. First there was the Black Bay 36, which was not-so-secretly one of my favorite watches of the show, and then we got the Black Bay Bronze and the Black Bay Dark. Well, this year there is a new sheriff in town, by the name of the Tudor Heritage Black Bay Steel reference 79730. That's right, Tudor has released a new addition to the Black Bay collection with a stainless steel bezel (and, for the first time, a date window). At $15,300, the Panerai Submersible BMG-Tech 47mm (PAM00799) is far from cheap, but Panerai gives customers
Satelliten Cloud Nodes quite a bit in exchange for their money. The P.9010 is a very nice modern movement, and the bulk metallic glass case would seem to be a great solution for those who want a case that is resistant to scratches, while retaining the look of a conventional steel sports watch.Caliber: the GP09400-1273Functions: Tourbillon, hours, minutes, small seconds on tourbillon cageDiameter: 42mmThickness: 9.45mmPower Reserve: 60 hoursWinding: Self-winding Frequency: 3HzJewels: 27Chronometer Certified: NoDoes this James Bond-esque thriller novel count as a watch book? Maybe, maybe not. Do I care? Not at all. The first novel penned by our dear friend and colleague Jason Heaton, Depth Charge is a rollicking good time packed with shipwrecks, nuclear missiles, and mercenaries. Watches and gear are a natural part of the Depth Charge narrative, but it's Heaton's action-packed prose that has me already anticipating the novel's in-progress sequel. Available in the HODINKEE Shop.
Here's something you don't see often – an
Ethische Dilemmata original cork box, the very one issued with the original series of Patek Philippe Nautilus reference 3700s, for sale. And what's more? The box comes with the outer box as well (almost never seen) and the condition appears to be great. Only problem? It's $13,000.Instead, the name is used to refer to the company, while specific models are referred to by their model name. Rolex, as far as Rolex itself is concerned, is the name of a single company. That company makes watches, but those are "Rolex watches" not "Rolexes." However, as the company takes no official position on the matter, the debate is free to continue ad infinitum.Even though the Polerouter has been a collector favorite for quite some time, so many were made in so many different executions that previously unknown models pop up to this day. What's most magical about the Polerouter, Hambly says, is that anyone has a fair chance at finding something that's rare or low-production.The Watch Library is a new charitable foundation "commited to preserving and promoting the world's watchmaking heritage." In September, it introduced a new digital platform that allows the public access to more than 320,000 archival documents.
