No one can re-edition charm and authenticity.To spend Monday evening with Naoya Hida and Tuesday morning with Rexhep Rexhepi is something of a blessing for any warm-blooded watch lover – and that's what this week in Geneva gave me. I'd seen Rexhep just a month or so ago when we filmed a video for his new collaboration with Louis Vuitton, but that was all about that watch, and today I wanted to hear all about his own watches. So I made my way across the river to old town Geneva for a visit to the beautiful Akrivia studio.One key component that separates this from falsos relógios the OG, is the new, high-frequency movement. Powering this watch is the El Primero 3620 high-frequency caliber beating at 5Hz. It's the kind of beat rate that makes a watch just that much more exciting and interesting to gaze at. Luckily there is a small-seconds indicator at six o'clock where you can watch that little hand just fly around in circles. It adds to the general super-hero energy behind the watch – as if the beat rate is its superpower.If you've seen the reference 37.07 Mosaic and Monolith, you know the general framework for the watch. I think part of the argument of why this is such a good option in the affordable range is covered by the fact that the complete package is so good. But when it comes down to it, the dial is the main difference, which means I hope you don't mind me if I get a little extra poetic about it. But first, a bit about watch photography.
Much like with past top-tier Reverso models, JLC has opted for one more classic and elegant dial, and on the inverse, one that is much more ornate. While available photos are very limited (I included all that are available here), both dials look great. Furthermore, while I don't generally care for tourbillons, this one does rather suit the vibe of such an ornate Reverso.If you turn the watch over, you see that it has a closed back that is engraved "Breguet Type 20 Only Watch 2019 Pièce Unique." Given that Seiko says that the 6R55 is accurate to -15 to +25 seconds a day, both of these watches fall within the stated range of the movement, but both were running on the slow side of zero. I will venture a guess that Seiko regulates these movements in dial-up or down positions, as both were significantly more accurate in those two positions.
