Some information about the NBA 2K21 MyTeam game mode has leaked online.
Progress is carried over from the current generation to the next generation
Because 2K21 will be available on PS4 and Xbox One for approximately two/three months before being released on PS5 and Xbox X, a large number of people will be playing MyTeam on the current generation consoles. This is a rare but significant win for the MyTeam community in that all of your NBA 2K MT, Tokens, Cards, and Progress will be carried over to the next generation consoles.
A New Offline Mode Has Been Added
Introducing Seasons, a new offline mode that allows you to play the game while also leveling up and earning rewards for completing objectives and winning games. Each season lasts approximately 6 weeks, with the first season awarding a PD Stephen Curry as a prize. This appears to be a great idea for players who prefer to play in their spare time.
A new twist on the classic 5v5 mode Unlimited, the sweaty 5v5 mode, has been redesigned to include a tier system that requires you to win a certain number of games in order to progress to the next tier. You'll also receive a prize for reaching each level. While adding some skill-based matchmaking, this will increase player engagement by making the process of winning the grand prize a little longer and more difficult.
MyTeam Limited
In order to keep the mode fresh, MyTeam Limited is a weekend league-type game mode that imposes new lineup restrictions each weekend. You receive a prize for each game you win, but the primary goal is to accumulate “Championship Rings,” which will entitle you to prizes at the conclusion of the season (5-6 weeks). Cards can now be traded for exchanging 2K21 MT. Using the Exchange feature, you can exchange a specific set of cards for a better card. Though it is unlikely to be used by online players, it is a useful feature that allows you to make use of cards that are either duplicates or do not meet your requirements.
Badge Cards have returned, and they are ready to make your favorite players overpowered. You can now personalize players by adding badges to them using badge cards, which are available in a variety of levels ranging from Bronze to Hall of Fame. This should allow some players who would have become obsolete quickly to remain usable for a significantly longer period of time.
Position locks are once again available.
One of the more contentious ideas from the previous two games returns for 2K21, with players only able to play at a maximum of two positions.
Evo Cards
Evo Cards are back, and this time with even more customization. A cool feature that was added to NBA 2K20 will be included in NBA 2K21.
