Life Coaching Tip #1: Breathe! How have you been breathing? Can you take deep breaths and stay conscious in your breath? Or, is your breathing short and shallow? Breathe deeply, inhale and exhale. Not only does this put more fresh oxygen into your system, in addition, it provides a means of keeping your brain present and focused.
Life Coaching Tip #2: Take a break! You will need a break every 90-120 minutes throughout your day. Stop what you're doing, get fully up, move and go get something to drink. Anything you do, the idea is to "disengage" from your activity for a quick bit. Going for a break will allow you to sustain "full engagement" through the rest of your day.
Life Coaching Tip #3: Pull your shoulders back! This can be a no slump zone! Pull those shoulders back, operate or sit up straight, engage your core muscles (abdominal and low back muscles) and see what shifts for you out of this posture.
Life Coaching Tip #4: You are what you eat! Remember this old saying? Well, it's interesting implications as it pertains to leadership and engagement. Many studies link food to mood, disease, depression, fuzzy thinking, etc. leadership coach I suspect that you do not need me to inform you that. Notice just how food impacts you. Do you are feeling energized and focused after a meal laden with processed foods and junk? Probably not.
Produce a shift in your diet by integrating more whole grains rather than refined carbohydrates, eating more fruits and vegetables rather than sweets, and opting for foods which can be baked rather than fried. You receive the picture. This really is all stuff you know. You've probably heard it one thousand times. Will these records affect your work/life balance? Do you want to make a selection to take action and produce a shift?
Life Coaching Tip #5: Hydrate! Living on coffee and sodas all day? Do you observe that your thinking is really a bit slower? Got water? Normal water can be an undervalued supply of physical energy renewal. Did you understand that by the time you're thirsty, you are already dehydrated? Research indicates that whenever you dehydrate a muscle by as little as 3%, it loses 10% of its strength and 8% of its speed. Dehydration compromises concentration and coordination. Imagine the result on energy leadership and thinking. Don't let yourself get dehydrated. Normal water at regular intervals during the day will serve performance in a variety of important ways.*
Life Coaching Tip #6: Move your system! No simpler way to express it. I'm not even going to enter starting a fitness program. It's even simpler than that. Get up, move, dance, stretch, whatever you wish to do to maneuver your system and get into action. A number of my energy leadership clients enter the toilet during a break or before a meeting to dance in the stall to get up and get present! Other clients have integrated "stretch breaks" into their days and meetings. Find something that may meet your needs and test it out. You will end up surprised.
