Instagram is bringing ads to its short-form video service and TikTok copycat Reels Thursday after testing.

The Reels feature, which was launched in SLOT August of last year. Let users create short video clips and share them publicly or with friends within the Instagram app. Instagram's chief operating officer Justin Osofsky said the company wanted to get an organic experience for users first.

Then switch to advertising methods. The company declined to share usage numbers on rolls. The ads will be full screen and vertical. and will appear between each post. It is up to 30 seconds long and will run in a loop.

When you enter the wheel You will find creators who entertain you. and going into fun mode It's a little different from how you access your Instagram feed or in Stories,” Osofsky told CNBC in an interview this week.

I think brands It's getting more and more complicated to use new short video formats, including Reels, to tell their own stories. Advertising is then a natural opportunity for brands to reach the consumers they want to reach.
