Volvo drivers enjoy the convenience of their key fob's remote features. They can lock and unlock their car, start the motor, and even locate it via an app on their smartphone.

First, place the fob of the key on an even surface, with the logo side facing upwards. Locate the button that releases it, place a coin between the fob and the cover and pull it up slowly.

Unlocking the Door

Find the black button which is located near the edges of the body of the key fob, and gently press it to open a cover that conceals a manual key blade. You'll require a flathead screwdriver or coin to flip this cover counterclockwise, so that the arrow is aligned with "open."

The Engine is Ready to Start

Modern Volvo key fobs offer a level of convenience and function that is unmatched by traditional manual keys. A key fob, just like any other battery-operated device will eventually lose its charge over time. If you notice that your key fob isn't as responsive when you press the lock or unlock button, it could be time to replace its battery.

If your vehicle is equipped with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also use the key fob to activate this feature. The car will heat or cool to the exact temperature it was set to when it was parked. It can last for up to 15 mins.

Remove the cover on the back of the key fob by using your fingernail. A button is located beneath the cover on a diagonal, near the edge of the body. You can remove it by sliding it downwards and to the right. The cover will then fall loose and slide off, revealing the manual key blade inside! If you're still having trouble finding the button, look around the newly revealed manual key access to find whether there's a hidden slot or lever.

Close the Windows

Volvo key fobs come with a hidden feature that allows you to instantly roll down all the windows. This is helpful when you're trying to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or simply need fresh air while driving.

To do this simply press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower all the windows, and also the sunroof, if your car has one. Then, when volvo s40 key done driving you can lock everything by pressing the lock button once more for four seconds.

Turning Off the Alarm

Modern key fobs are more convenient than a mechanical car key. However, they aren't able to function completely for a long time, and the batteries can eventually die. If you're in a hurry and don't want to visit an establishment to get your key fob reprogrammed, you can try to achieve it at home.

Place your keys batteries, keys, and other keys on a clean surface. Place the key fob with the Volvo logo facing up, then locate a small black button to the left side of the fob and slide it to the right. The cover should fall off and expose the key blade's mechanical mechanism beneath.

Press the key fob's unlock button twice quickly, and you'll be able to unlock all doors and the tailgate. The lock button also closes the windows and the sunroof (if equipped) by pressing it for two seconds. Reconnect the battery and the alarm will stop.
