Why was France put on the amber-plus list?

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has เกมสล็อต again been trying to explain the reasons behind the initial decision to make France an amber-plus country.

Last week, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab told the BBC about the importance of Covid cases on Reunion - a French island in the Indian Ocean - when making the decision.

Mr Shapps reiterated that point today: “There are, of course, very close links between La Reunion and France, so the issue was the travel links."

But the strange thing is that France has been on the amber-plus list (and will be until Sunday), so vaccinated people arriving from there had to isolate for 10 days, whereas Reunion has been on the amber list (and will be until Sunday), so vaccinated arrivals have not had to isolate. That has been the case since 19 July.

On Sunday this will change and France will go onto the amber list while Reunion goes onto the travel-ban red list, meaning arrivals have to isolate in a quarantine hotel.
