Good... so, here's a fun question for those of you who are perhaps more knowledgeable as locals in Spain.

I'm about to get my new Irish passport, and I have a long-term "remote work" arrangement, so I'm considering going to the Castile y Leon area west of Astorga, about as far as Ponferrada, to look at properties for sale when I can retire in a few years. I hope that I can find something "now" and start occupying it for most of the year in 2023.

What I am curious to know is whether the passport or the place of departure matters to Spanish officials as far as quarantine is concerned. It seems to me that you can't just land in Madrid and take a train to Leon to spend 2 weeks in a quarantined hotel there. But as an EU citizen, this may be possible?

I would like to be able to do as much as possible during the month, working remotely and including our winter holidays during this time (in February I have almost 2 weeks without any "full-time" duties). But if I had to stay in Madrid, the cost of 2 weeks of idleness in a hotel could be prohibitively high.

We are entering the "managed second wave" in Canada.... hoping that with the increased mobility of young people returning to school, university and college, the virus will lose its virulence in the population with the least chance of getting sick. I suppose we could find out if it was possible to do this by January. The last time I checked, we were somewhere on the 27th place in the global list for prevalence.

Anyway, I'm just starting to think about it, because buying a property invisible-no matter how much I adore photos and descriptions-seems wildly unwise.

If you are vaccinated now, then you can fly to Spain without any problems. I am personally afraid of vaccines because I have several chronic diseases that can worsen and cause serious harm to my health. Therefore, I decided that until the situation with Avid is resolved, I can visit all the famous cities in the United States. I've wanted to see Phoenix for a long time, and it's good that I have a friend there who will let me go to his house for a couple of days. By the way, as far as I know, Phoenix is quite a quiet city. Have been any terrorist acts there?
