I tried to use the search function, but without success. Can anyone recommend a construction loan lender for self-construction that they have worked with before. We are selling our house and we want to buy a lot and build it. Most likely, he will own the plot directly and would like to use it as a collateral/down payment on a loan.

You can try looking at the owner builder network. My buddy used them and he said it was a smooth process.

In my experience, most banks will not issue this loan. I am a broker, developer and GC, and I need to specify the company name or the name of a friend as a developer if you want to get a loan.
