Google is shutting down a dedicated startup space in London called Campus.xo slot
The Silicon Valley tech giant announced Monday that it has decided to 'Never open again' campus in east London after being forced to close by coronavirus outbreak
“We are closing campuses to support start-ups across the UK,” the company said, claiming it could provide support for start-ups across the country without physical space.
Campus London, one of many Campus sites around the world, was opened in 2012 by Israeli tech veteran and Google employee Eze Vidra as the London startup scene took off.
Vidra Monday that the closure of the campus was emotional and bitter. “The sweetest part is the success and the bitter part is the end of an era,” he said.
“Personally, I am very happy to see the UK startup ecosystem grow,” Vidra said, adding that it now feels like the campus is “no longer needed” when it was established. The scene started in London.
