From memory 2.5% is the duty rate for cars, but that is not the whole of he picture.

Unless your car is a US model and already complies with Federal sfatey and emissions requirements, then you will need bring it into compliance. This is potentialy very expensive - for a regular family car it may actually cost more than the value of the car, so importing tends to be limited to expensive exotica. However if the car is more than 25 years old it will be exempt from those requirements.

The other thing you need to be aware of the requirement to use a Registered Importer to bring you car in; costs for using an RI are substantial and you can’t avoid them - there is no DIY option.
