Line-up

The band's third album, Turn Back, marked an reversion to the classic sextet arrangement of previous albums. It was a more powerful, constant effort with a harder edge than Hydra. The more experimental sound of Turn Back reflected the maturation in the group. The drummer Bobby Kimball's increasing virtuosity was reflected by the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, who had grown more confident and mature. David Paich's keyboard playing was also more sophisticated, sharper, and less derivative on earlier efforts.

After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live concert in Amsterdam that was released as a two-CD set called Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity.
