The One French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Mistake Every Newbie Makes
French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review
Combining form and functionality, French-door refrigerators have elegant double doors that open up to an enormous fridge on the top and a freezer drawer beneath. Special features like door-to-door dispensers, high-end ice machines, and customizable flex drawers make them stand out from the rest.
We asked experts like Ladina Schopf, interior designer and architect, as well as the founder of LS Projects, for tips on choosing the right model. They looked at the capacity of storage, layout, and energy efficiency, among other factors.
GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
The name implies that the GE Profile series is targeted at consumers who want to incorporate cutting-edge technologies in their kitchen. This fridge is loaded with features, from an in-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a sophisticated water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. This fridge is expensive and I expected more.
Other than that the fridge is a great choice. It has a large freezer compartment, which is quite uncommon in counter-depth French door refrigerators. Additionally, it can hold a decent amount of frozen food as compared to similar models.
Inside
french door fridge freezers , there are 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment has 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is about the same as a French door refrigerator that costs this much. It also has a decent sized ice maker in the left-hand door, although it's not the largest I've seen.
You can adjust the shelving in each compartment to create a customized storage arrangement for what you want to store. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is attractive. The LED lighting adds a nice accent. The storage bins in the door have a third shelf which can be folded down to store tall items. The drawers come with temperature controls, so you can set them to Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, although I found their plastic textured coatings to be a little difficult on the fingers.
The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator has all the features you would expect from a refrigerator within this price range. It has Wi-Fi as well as app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is available on iOS and Android devices and lets you control your refrigerator from any place in the globe. It also has a lot of customization options. It also sends you notifications when a door is left open, when the fridge or freezer is in need of defrosting, and when it's time to change the filter.
It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS came with Precise Fill, an option available in other GE refrigerators that allows you to choose how many cups of water you'd like to dispense at a time. The fridge shows a countdown to show you how much water is left, but it's not as useful as Precise fill.
Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
Designed to look like a seamless part of your kitchen Bosch's French door refrigerator is a standout. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also features a veggie compartment that keeps vegetables and fruits fresher for longer, and dual compressors to preserve food. The ice maker we tested was one of the most efficient and produces an ice pyramid with only a little water. This fridge is perfect for a single family or kitchenette that needs a built-in appearance and top-of-the best food preservation.
This refrigerator was rated as the most efficient in our Refrigerators Test for several reasons. The freezer temperatures remained steady at just a few degrees Fahrenheit, and never changing more than a fraction of an inch. This is essential to preventing freezer burn. The fridge's refrigerator section also performed well, achieving the temperature that was set for the initial setting within an hour and keeping the temperature constant over the course of our testing.
Bosch is known for its high-end appliances which is why it's no surprise that this counter depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance with the option to connect to your home Wi-Fi as well as Bosch's Home Connect platform. The app lets you monitor and control your fridge from your tablet or smartphone. The fridge is expensive, but it offers excellent features and functionality for the cost.
It's important to understand the limitations of the fridge. It has a narrow space for shelves, so you may need to be creative when storing tall objects. Also, the shelves are not sprillproof and can be easily damaged or stained by sharp objects. It is easy to take out the refrigerator trays However, be sure to keep them clean to avoid mold growth.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
The LG LRFLC2706S is a great counter-depth refrigerator that packs a lot of storage space into the frame's compact size. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the refrigerator has the standard French-door layout, with gallon-sized door bins on each door as well as two rows of shelves for spill-capture, and a set of sleeker drawers. The upper right shelf can be folded down to give taller items more room. There's also a full-width drawer for deli and an inside water dispenser.
One of the nice things about this refrigerator is that its ice maker is in the freezer, which makes it easy to move the ice to the refrigerator to use as needed. The freezer also features innovative design features such as sliding drawers that allow you to organize your items. It comes with a large bin for storing frozen food and a separate one for ice.
Another awesome feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can control the temperature, lighting and other aspects of your fridge using your smartphone. It's an easy way to monitor your refrigerator and manage it, especially when away from home.
The Smart InstaView feature is neat, but it doesn't necessarily improve the performance of the fridge. In fact, it took longer to defrost and chill foods in this refrigerator as compared to other fridges we test. This is likely due to the greater capacity.
Another issue with the door of this refrigerator. The handles with a sunken design let shorter people open them from the bottom. However, taller people still struggle to close them without slamming them. It would have been much better if they had front-mounted handles.
The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a excellent option for those looking to combine the benefits of a fridge with a French door with an efficient layout. It has a capacity that is above average for counter-depth models and also cools evenly. It's also less expensive than the top counter-depth refrigerator that has an ice maker, which can make it a popular choice.
Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a good choice for those looking for a French-door fridge that won't break the budget. It's a simple fridge which may not be as eye-catching like some of its competitors, but it still has enough features to make a an excellent choice. Its most important feature, the temperature adjustable drawer, helps to keep food items like vegetables and meat fresher longer.
french door fridge and freezer has a large ice maker and a water dispenser.
The "Chill Drawer", which is located over the two crisper bins, is a great feature. The drawer allows you to divert part of the fridge's cooling power directly to this area, meaning you can store foods that need extra attention. This feature can be adjusted by using an outside slider that is located inside the drawer. You can also use this feature to adjust the general cooling settings for the entire fridge, but I've noticed that adjusting the generic settings tends to produce better results than specific ones.
In my tests, I found that the temperatures in the refrigerator were fairly consistent in different parts of the fridge. Temperatures at the top and bottom of the fridge didn't vary significantly from 38 degrees, and the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a great performance but doesn't quite make it to the top of our ratings.
This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. The fridge can be linked with a smart thermostat in order to get more accurate readings on the internal temperature of your fridge.
The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of gray-bodied stainless with a "smudge resistant" finish. It does a great job of removing streaks and fingerprints even when compared to the glossier stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tried.
