Volvo drivers love their key fob's useful remote features. Utilizing a smartphone app, they can lock and unlock the vehicle or start the engine and even locate it.

First, place the fob on a clean surface with the logo side facing upwards. Find the button that opens it, then wedge an object between the fob and the cover and then pull it up with care.

Unlocking the Doors

This will open a cover that conceals the manual key blade. You will require a flathead screwdriver and a coin to flip the cover counterclockwise, so that the arrow is aligned with "open."

Starting the Engine

Modern Volvo key fobs offer an ease of use and convenience that is unmatched by manual keys. However, like any battery-operated electronic device key fobs can lose its charge or cease working over time. If you notice that your key fob is less responsive when you hit the lock or unlock button, it might be time to replace its battery.

You can activate this feature by using the key fob if your car is equipped with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start. The car will heat or cool at the same temperature that it was set to when it was parked, and run for up 15 minutes.

With a fingernail, remove the cover on the back of the key fob. The button should be underneath the cover on an angle, close to the body's edge. Slide it down and to the right. The cover will come loose, and then slide away to reveal the manual blade! If you still can't locate the button, look around the newly exposed manual key access to determine whether there's a hidden slot or lever.

To unlock your Volvo simply press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower the windows as well as the sunroof, if you have one. After that, once you're done driving, you can close everything by pressing the lock button again for four seconds.

Opening the Tailgate

Volvo has loaded its key fobs with variety of useful features. They are great if you're slammed with shopping, or helping your children pack their sports gear after a session.

If you have the Hands Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) Then you can open it by using the key fob. Simply press the button open it, and then use the same button to close it once you're done.

Use the key fob when you are ready to start your vehicle. (Don't worry if your battery goes out or if your vehicle isn't starting because it also has a mechanical key slot). This is only one of the many tricks you can use for your new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm

Lay out your keys along with batteries and any other keys on a clean surface. Set the key fob with the Volvo logo facing upwards Then, locate a small black button on the left-hand side of the fob and slide it to the right. The cover should fall off and fall off and reveal the mechanical key blade beneath it.
