Twilight Princess: What's No One Is Talking About Twilight Princess Game Review

Twilight Princess is the darkest, most serious and most serious Nintendo 3D Zelda game. It pushes the graphical display on the Wii to its limits. It's more tense and ambiguous than The Wind Waker, with no bug-eyed pig guards or effeminate pirates.

Link is drawn to a different dimension referred to as Twilight Realm where he takes on the form of both Hylian wolf and Hylian wolf and a Hylian while being guided by Midna.

Gameplay

The thirteenth installment in The Legend of Zelda is Twilight Princess. It was released for the Nintendo GameCube and Wii systems in the year 2006. Critics praised the game and gave it perfect scores in various publications, including 1UP CVG EGM and GamesRadar. It is regarded by many as one of the best in the entire series, and it was the most-seller Zelda game on the PAL market.

Twilight princess has naturalistic and stylized graphics style, similar to Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask but with a more sophisticated graphic engine. It's the first game in the series to feature the full directional control scheme, instead of having a fixed perspective like previous games. This change was made in order to accommodate the Wii console, which features a pointing-based user interface. The GameCube version of the game has an area in the back with mirror-image maps for players who prefer a fixed view.

After entering the Twilight Realm, Link is transformed into a wolf and comes across Midna, an unidentified creature. She reveals to Link that the kingdom of Hyrule is now under the control of a group of shadow beasts that are led by the evil sorcerer Zant. She also explains that she's the real ruler of Twili however, she was supplanted and cursed into her present form by Zant.

When Link and Midna arrive at Hyrule Castle, a short cut scene shows the soldiers there being killed by the shadow creatures. Then, Link and Midna escape from the castle through a tunnel and enter the Twilight Realm.

In the Twilight Realm, Link can use his wolf form to move around more freely around the world. He can also make use of his senses to navigate around the world. He can hear the ghosts of soldiers and animals in the distance. He can also whistle and pick grass from certain patches to summon an animal such as the Hawk, Epona or other. Link can also howl near the patches to summon a similar animal.

As with earlier Zelda games music plays a significant role in Twilight Princess. Link can play instruments like the flute or harp to attract and summon various animals. Link can also command the wolf's form by speaking. He can also use his compass to guide him to help him navigate through the world.

Characters

The Legend of Zelda series is full of vibrant characters that leave an unforgettable impression on players. These quirky and creative personalities that emerge from toilets to pirates sailing across vast oceans are the core of this game. Twilight Princess continues in the tradition of the previous games, and introduces numerous memorable characters.

Link is introduced to new NPCs throughout the story who are not only interesting but also plausible. It's a major step in the right direction that many of these NPCs actually play a role in the story instead of simply being there as victims. NPCs like Rusl who explains why the forest is becoming more dangerous and kidnaps children, or the Ordon villagers who sneak around as wolves when the kids are being kidnapped, all have unique personalities that feel genuine.

Other notable characters include Iza, who operates the Boat Rental Cabin and Iza's Rapid Ride in the Lanayru Province, Louise, Telma's cat who helps Wolf Link locate a secret passageway through her bar and sewer system that leads to the castle, and Faron, whose spirit is the one who guides Link and Midna to the Forest Temple in the Eldin Province. The duo defeats the Fused Shadow possessed by Diababa and obtains the first Tear of Light.

Midna is the princess of the Twilight Realm and one of the most interesting characters in the game. She has a sliver of the Triforce of Wisdom and can switch between her human as well as her wolf-like form. She tells Link about her experience in the twilight, and about how she defeated Zant the King of Twilight.

Zant is the evil sorcerer who controls the Twilight Realm. He possesses the second half of the Triforce of Wisdom. The goddesses banished him to Twilight Realm for enslaving their people and taking over their land. Zant's magic keeps him permanently in wolf form, but Midna eliminates the power and allows him to transform into his human form when needed.

Epona is an improved horse that can be ridden in both the wolf and Hylian forms. Link can whistle near certain patches of grass to summon the animal. (similar to Majora’s Mask). Twilight Princess is the first game in the series where players can identify their horse.

Theme

Music is a crucial element of any Zelda game. It can make a game seem vast as well as expansive and thrilling. However, Twilight Princess is criticized for its erratic and unreliable soundtrack that doesn't capture the emotional impact of certain scenes. Contrastingly, princess demo of Time and Majora's Mask have captivating music that explode at precisely the right time to create a feeling of majestic and eerie.

Toru Minegishi and Asuka Ohta were the composers for the sound design and music in Twilight Princess, with Koji Kondo overseeing the series's composers for the first time since Wind Waker. The soundtrack for Twilight Princess is a radical departure from the usual approach to the series, and features a a minimalistic approach to melody and arrangements. The majority of dungeon and field music begins with a single instrument that creates a mystical and eerie atmosphere for the player. For instance, the haunting music in Midna's Lament utilizes a simple piano to create an overwhelming emotion for the player.

The most prominent examples are dungeon themes, with a dull atmosphere. This is evident in Twilight Realm, which has an eerie soundscape that could be heard in the soundtrack of a David Lynch movie. The dark and unsettling quality of this track is accentuated by the lack of recognisable melody and traditional arrangement, with dreary drones and peculiar patterns intertwining to create a dark, gloomy texture.

Link's hometown song, "Faron Woods," is a more uplifting and joyful song. This song employs a variety of gentle sounds and strings to create a calm and safe feeling for the player. The song has an ode to the most famous scene in the franchise as it features an riff that is similar to the iconic melody that plays at Ocarina of Time's beginning.

Twilight Princess also has dynamic songs that change according to the player's location, what they do and what's happening. Hyrule Castle Town has different versions of its theme for each area of the town. Central Square, for example, has a more raucous version. These variations are a nice touch that helps to add an element of immersion and depth to the world of Hyrule.

Story

The story of Twilight Princess revolves around Link trying to stop Hyrule from being engulfed by the corrupted parallel dimension known as the Twilight Realm. To do this, he adopts the form of a Hylian and an Wolf as well as being assisted by a woman called Midna.

Midna is the first ruler of the Twili, but she was usurped by Zant and cursed to her imp form. Link and Midna are told by the Ancient Sages that only by defeating Ganondorf will be in a position to release them from their curse. The Sages reveal that the Mirror of Twilight is the source of the darkness that exists in the Twilight Realm. Midna and Link travel to the Spirit's Spring, where they encounter dangerous monsters who kidnap children. Wolf Link's keen nose assists them in tracking children's scent to a nearby bridge and then cross into the Twilight Realm.

They enter the Forest Temple, battle Diababa and receive the first Fused Shadow. Faron then informs them of the next destination, which is the Eldin Province in the west (Wii), or east (GCN).

Midna at the Lakebed Temple of Lanayru teleports Link onto a fiery stone and then uses her powers on the ice beneath Lake Hylia. Rutela's spirit, who was the recently gone Zora queen appears to Link and tells Link that he must visit the Lakebed Temple if he wants to gain access to the treasures of the Zora.

Twilight Princess allows you to ride Epona the horse from Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask. Contrary to the name of the set used in the two previous games, Link can now decide the name of the horse himself.

Upon arriving in the Twilight Realm, Midna and Link take back the remaining Mirror Shards. In the Palace of Twilight, the Sages reveal that Midna is actually the real ruler of the Twili however she had been ostracized by the monarchy and turned to a god to gain power. The Sages tell them that they can only be defeated by Ganondorf if they bring him to light and break the pact between the Twilight kingdom and the Hyrule kingdom.
