The old battery can be removed through the hole in the middle. Note: Changing the battery in a wrong manner or using an unsuitable battery may damage the remote key. Always replace the battery using one with the same voltage, size and specifications as the original.

If your key fob was submerged in water, it may be necessary to clean the chip prior to replacing the battery. This is especially important in the event that you've dropped it into the sea or soapy washing water. It is crucial to do this immediately, as water can damage the chip in your key fob's electronic.

The key fob is protected by rubber seals, which will keep water out. The submersion of the keyfob could cause the seals of the keyfob to break and damage the chip's electronic components. This is the most likely scenario when your key fob is placed in the rain or accidentally falls into the pool. If your key fob isn't working after replacing it or reprogramming it, the receiver module might be defective.

Water Damage

Rubber seals on the key fob block water from getting to the electronic chip. This doesn't stop occasional splash. If you've survived a washing cycle or an ocean swim the chip could be damaged.

It can be fixed by removing the battery and then cleaning the chip using isopropyl or electronic cleaner. Let it dry completely before replacing it. If the chip is damaged, it must be replaced with a brand new one.

If your key fob does not work even after changing the battery or reprogramming, it could be an issue with the receiver module. This is the part of your car that receives the signals from the keyfob. It then transmits the signals to the key ignition system. You can test it by using the spare key fob, if you have one. Central locking should be activated and the ignition system light should turn on. If this does not happen and the receiver is not working, then it may be faulty.
