The upgrading of your items is a vital element of equipping your character. Upgrades increase the base damage and the enchantments of items.

The upgrade button is available on any item. Each recycled item adds a level to the upgrade gauge.

Weapon

When the weapon is upgraded it will gain a base damage bonus and an increase in the scaling factor that affects other stats. Certain upgrade components come with cosmetic effects, while others offer additional benefits. These upgrades can be put into armor, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools, and most require that the equipment have an available upgrade slot and meet certain requirements. A weapon can also be upgraded to include a Calibration attribute that improves certain stats, like Weakspot damage or Crit Rate. This is done via the Gear Workbench's interaction menu. Based on the level of the weapon it can be done up to four times.

Once the weapon has reached the maximum level of upgrade, it may be reforged using a variety of different types of upgrades to increase specific stats or add other bonuses and effects. Several of these upgrades can be re-applied at once, and their effects are based on the quality of the weapon.

Two Blacksmiths can perform these upgrades in the game: Blacksmith Iji on the Road to the Manor Site of Grace and Smithing Master Hewg at the Church of Elleh hub. Both require different upgrade materials: Smithing Stones for standard weapons, and Somber Smithing Stones to alter the type of damage that a weapon inflicts.

It is generally advised to improve weapon damage first, then armour defense, and then the other secondary stats as required by your build. In particular, it is common to see melee druids enhancing their weapon before any other gear, as this helps maximise DPS. This is especially relevant for enchantments that increase a weapon's stats as well as damage.

Armor

Item upgrades allow players to boost the stats of certain armors, weapons trinkets, trinkets, or gathering tools. These upgrades can also bring additional effects, such as additional damage or a cosmetic enhancement. The second attempt would result in a new Dragonscale armor that has the base defense between 67 and 77, and it goes on.

At its current level this trinket will make X% of regular floors become filled with water or grass, but it doesn't affect enchantments, glyphs, cursed weapons or armor, or other items created to aid in the elimination of hazards.

While it looks like the normal eye of a newt this mysterious item appears to be affecting your vision in ways beyond just reducing your field view. At its current level this trinket boosts the overall health benefits of drinking potions of healing, waterskins and wells of health by X% and gives you eyesight on enemies within the Y tiles. This trinket is not stacked with the Heightened Senses.

Skull Cavern is where you will find Trinkets after you've completed the Mastery Cave. You will find them when you defeat Monsters and chests and crates. They are not available in the Mines or Volcano Dungeon.

Place the trinket in the Anvil when it needs to be upgraded. This will create an unpredictable effect on the trinket, either prolonging its life or enhancing its effects. You can reorge a Trinket as many times as you wish, however it will always have an impact that is different from the one that it had when you first made it.

You can upgrade your Trinkets at the Alchemy Station by placing them into the Magical Catalyst. It will cost you 6 energy, however it will increase the power of the trinkets by a small amount.
