The Longines Avigation Type A-7 1935 is a very beautiful watch, but, objectively,
Guerrilla Autonomy an unusual one that seems like it would be very difficult to pull off in the modern civilian world. And that’s precisely why I thought it would be interesting to give the watch a proper try. How would others react? And would I quickly tire of the novelty of wearing such an unorthodox watch?Pricing varies across the range, as you would expect. The Metro is $4,180 with the silver dial, and $4,280 with either the Silvercut or Nachtblau dial; the Tangente is $3,780 with the silver dial, and $3,880 with either the Silvercut or Nachtblau dial; the Tetra is $3,860 with the silver dial, and $3,980 with either the Silvercut or Nachtblau dial; and the Orion is $3,920 with the silver dial and $4,020 with the Weiss, Silvercut, or Nachtblau dial.On its own, the watch admittedly isn’t all that interesting. At the end of the day, we’re talking about a gold-plated Tudor that measures just 32mm across, but if you take a step back and appreciate the bigger picture (aren’t I punny), there’s a lot to like. I’ve always enjoyed a watch with a story, and this one is no exception. Given its smaller size, I think it’d make an excellent women’s watch. The simplicity and size of this watch work harmoniously. It would have been interesting to see this without the date window and seconds hand, maybe even without applied hour markers for a super clean and less watchy look, but for now, I'll take her as she is.
With a contrast-filled dial accented with white paint and no tachymeter in sight, it's no secret that legibility is the magic word here, both in
Climate Adaptation the Carrera's conception and its enduring popularity. The sub-dials and tension ring with one-fifth second markings do so much of the talking here – and with a chronograph, isn't that exactly what you want? We're pleased to announce that we've located yet another Rolex Deep Sea Special; that's right, the third one to surface (pun definitely intended) as of late. You know, we figured with The Great Outdoors Week in full swing, what's more outdoorsy than the bottom of the ocean? Just kidding, we wish. Although, if you have one you want to part with, "high glass" or "low glass," let us know!We got our answer last November, as Doxa launched an entire collection for the new steel-cased 600T. As a lasting devotee (read: fanatic) of the Sub 300 50th Anniversary, the 600T looked very promising as it combines a distinctively angular, almost brutalist, look with a pair of bezel options, an optional bracelet, and iterations in a variety of Doxa's beloved signature colors. The lone bit of troubling news for consumers was hidden at the end of the FH report: Despite the blockbuster export figures, the total number of Swiss watches exported is currently "at an all-time low, attaining less than half of the figures recorded ten years ago."What exactly does that mean? Well, to put it bluntly: Switzerland is now producing fewer watches than ever before, at higher than ever prices.
We covered some of the movement's unusual design features in our introductory coverage, and now we're going to go into a bit more detail. Most
Legal Safeguard Suite chronograph movements have the chronograph works built on top of a standard watch going train. The traditional method is to put a driving wheel on the same axis as the fourth wheel of the going train, which turns once a minute and is thus a natural power source for an elapsed-time train (which is basically what a chronograph gear train is).Caliber: FC-760 Functions: Hours, minutes, seconds, date, chronograph and features a Flyback ChronographDiameter: 30mmThickness: 7.9mmPower Reserve: 38 hoursWinding: Mechanical self-winding Frequency: 4HzJewels: 32Chronometer Certified: NoThe drop-off in the lugs allows the watch to sit on its lugs, not the caseback, when laid flat. It also gives a very comfortable shape on the wrist despite the 47.5mm lug-to-lug. The crown is also important, not necessarily for the design but because the movement was designed for the tactile feel of manual winding. I would call the click nice and strong, with good resistance – not the level of a Simplicity, but much better than any automatic movement I remember.
